Some Useful Guidelines for Whole Core CT-Scanning for Petrophysical Applications

چکیده
From the time CT-scanning was introduced in oil and gas industry, its use could be divided into SCAL routine type applications. The first involves flowing fluids through cores, whereas second scanning, mainly whole their native (preserved or unpreserved) state. For core CT-scanning, there has been a constant shift from qualitative to quantitative analysis. size of cores is ideal for scanning them with ‘converted’ medical CT-scanner but obtaining meaningful data requires more than just artifact-free images. In this paper, useful guidelines are offered extracting CT-scanning. Today’s fast, multi-slice CT-scanners generally provide sufficient image resolution most related However, they usually require some modifications equipment calibration procedures. Special solid phantoms matching density should used calibrating scanner at different X-ray energies. A set ‘standards’ necessary converting CT numbers Z eff (Effective Atomic numbers), which scanned under similar ‘environment’ as cores. Using pilot scans highly recommended every tube reduce uncertainties. dual energy it important take exact same locations, selecting right pair corresponding tables. processing, include aligning last slices largest region-of-interest, quality controlling each slice assigning depths before bulk . Additional information provided industrial have both advantages disadvantages. Guidelines such ones mentioned above allow imaging number Such were successfully porosity determination, heterogeneity quantification, lithology dual-energy based mineralogy detection, density-based micro-imaging, core-log correlations depth matching, fracture characterization, formation damage evaluation, many others. Several examples included paper. Adherence strict helps artifact-free, on that can improve our understanding rocks. This paper demonstrates least 10 applications along proper engineers geoscientists.

Nmr Petrophysical Predictions on Digitized Core Images
NMR is a popular logging technique used to estimate pore size information, formation permeability, wettability and irreducible water saturation. Quantitative interpretation of NMR data is based on a set of fundamental assumptions (e.g., pore isolation and fast diffusion). These assumptions establish the quantitative link between NMR response and petrophysical predictions. While there is a need ...

Introduction: Pixel value in computed tomography (CT) gives the average linear attenuation coefficient of the scanned material in the path of the x-ray beam, being normalized to that of water. It is known that attenuation coefficient or HU value is a function of the chemical characteristic of the material and of the x-ray energy. The CT image shows the HU value by a shade of gr...
متن کاملMultisection CT: scanning techniques and clinical applications.
Multisection computed tomography (CT) was introduced in 1992 with the advent of dual-section-capable scanners and was improved in 1998 following the development of quad-section technology. With a recent increase in gantry speed from one to two revolutions per second, multisection CT scanners are now up to eight times faster than conventional single-section helical CT scanners. The benefits of q...

Introduction While looking for some appropriate research projects, I had been impressed by and interested in the work of Danishefsky' and others' regarding the use of "Eschen-moser's salt" (1). During the course of a l~terature search on an industrial project, we came across an article by Gold,' which described the preparation of a rather interesting vinylogous iminium salt (2). The name assign...
متن کاملSOME SIMILARITY MEASURES FOR PICTURE FUZZY SETS AND THEIR APPLICATIONS
In this work, we shall present some novel process to measure the similarity between picture fuzzy sets. Firstly, we adopt the concept of intuitionistic fuzzy sets, interval-valued intuitionistic fuzzy sets and picture fuzzy sets. Secondly, we develop some similarity measures between picture fuzzy sets, such as, cosine similarity measure, weighted cosine similarity measure, set-theoretic similar...
